Topic: Rep your flatiron!!!! Posted: Mar 13 2008 at 4:17pm |
Hey ladies,
I'm looking to invest in a good quality flat iron so that I can do my own hair. I've heard ceramic/tourmaline thrown around a lot, as well as to look for one that goes up to at least 400. My question is, what flat iron do you use that gives you those flawless results? (I've seen the pics )
So as you respond, please remember to inclde:
- the full name of it (some brands have like 6 different types)
- your hair type
- pictures (if you have them)
ALL are welcome to respond because I want this to be a resource for everyone, although I especially wanna hear from my 4a sistas (shout out!)
Lookin forward to your responses!

I use the Ionic Pro. I ordered it from an informercial. I don't have pictures, since my camera is on the fritz. I don't know my hair type; however, my new growth is not tight curls, but tight "S" shapes. It is also very soft, fragile, easy to frizz, and resistant to straightening. It is also routinely underprocessed.
My mother is very critical of my hair styling. She is still upset that I do not let her take care of my ages, despite the fact that I am old enough to be constantly confused for her sister or best friend. One Easter, I helped her cook from night until morning for the church breakfast. We got to the church early to set up. She looked good. I however had not slept, changed into church clothes, combed my hair, or put on makeup. Shortly before the people started arriving, I dashed into the bathroom to change and do my hair. All I had was scalp treatment, heat protectant, a comb, and my Ionic Pro. Half an hour later, my mother walked in to see me finishing up. She couldn't believe how smooth and shiny my hair was. I had to convince her that I had not relaxed my hair the night before (while baking the ham and pies), used a pressing comb, nor used a curling iron. I take that as the first compliment she has ever given my styling skills.

Welcome Ladragon. Quite the testimony there ^^. I hope you get your camera working soon, I would love to see that "before" and "after." *even though I really don't need another flat iron*

I have had the MaxiGlide for a very long time and I have been very happy with it. I also have an FHI Runway which I'm not as fond of but I'm tryin' to like it because it is supposed to be even easier on your hair (healthwise) than the MG.

I have the Solia and I like it a LOT. It's a very good flat iron and it gets hot enough to straighten with only one pass through my hair. It doesn't burn my hair and I haven't experienced heat damage either. My hair type is 3c/4a I guess. I have pictures in my fotki.

my current flat iron is a ceramic iron called the Lena Professional with tourmaline. its a digital iron that has a heat range of 250-400 degrees. i only need one pass through my hair and my hair will stay straight for two weeks regardless of rain or humidty. so far i haven't noticed any damage in terms of split ends, breakage, white ends, etc. and i don't trim(i use it on 400 w/a heat protectant). i also flat iron every 2 weeks. i previously used the revlon iron w/the gold plates which made my hair super straight, but burned it even though i used the lowest heat setting...that gave me massive breakage. anyway, i purchased it at ULTA for $29.99 and my pic is my avatar.
edit: forgot to add the link:
