I didn't dc the last time I wore box braids.  I just washed as normal let it dry, and then I used braid spray.  My hair retained length VERY well.

Debating if I want to start washing my braids because I had them in for 2 weeks.and I mist daily with braid spray and water/glycerin mix.

Last time I had braids I washed then and they matted after only 6 weeks. Washed and.dc weekly.

I'm nervous to wash in braids now.

.well my experience with the braids this time was good..i diluted a sulphate free shampoo and washed the SCALP once a week, then applied a conditioner to the LENGTH of the braid and did  DC, misted the scalp daily with water and lightly applied Mane n Tail Braid spray to the length and also on wash day i oiled the scalp.
** I too plan to wear braids for the year but not straight thought out because somewhere i heard thats not too good for the health of relaxed hair
