QuoteReplyTopic: OK to those who dont know about Oil Rinsing..... Posted: Feb 13 2010 at 12:40pm
.....You need to be put on!!!
There are huge threads on Oil Rinsing on NC.com and LHCF.com, and I think it about time we have one here...
I seeing alot of complaints about dry hair, and detangling, and I just want to let you know that with this method , you wont have these issue anymore...It great for all types of hair, relaxed, natural, and especially transitioners!!!
Ive been Oil Rinsing for about a month and a half, once a week now,and it has left me with:
Stonger strands Less Breakage Barely any single strand knots Smoother Strands Soft and suple hair, from the day I wash to the next wash day (a week later) BLANG BLANG shine Major decrease in detangling time!!!! in fact with this method your hair detangles with running water alone!!!
and the benefits it has on your hair seems to accumulate over time if your are consistent with it, of course....
This is how you Oil Rinse:
Rinse (or shampoo) your hair
Coat in your favorite oil or oil mixture
Rinse with warm/hot water
Apply conditioner
Rinse with cool/cold water
Apply leave-in
Seal
Style hair as desired
Heres is step by step videotutorial for visual:
According to Sereca of LHCF "The part that makes it an oil rinse is using conditioner to help rinse some of the oil from your hair. Everything else is just a pre-poo, hot oil treatment, or an oil wash."
So for those who have issues with dry hair and tangles I really HTH's
If you decide you want to start using this method...I and im pretty sure everyone else here would love for you to keep up with this thread, and tell us how its working for you!!!
this reminds me of pre pooing. Except the idea is that you saturate the hair with oil before washing. You can't really wash all of the oil out unless you wash like mad (and I don't).
It does make the hair amazingly managable, but I stopped because I washn't sure if oil+ blowdryer = a good idea.

Thats why you co wash after rinsing the oil out...it gets the excess oil out without totally stripping them....Plus you can always use a clarifying conditioner...
You are right about the oil + heat thing...but I heave heard of people using shea butter or coconut oil lightly for heat protection
In the LHCF, there were alot of relaxed heads that did this before straigtening, and the result was smoother hair...
