There is nothing original about this girl, Sorry. I can grad any girl from any city Detroit, Chicago, Atl slap on some lashed, pink lipgloss, but injections , with a small waist and a cute face and they could replace Nikki Minaj. Hell I saw like 4 Minaj clones at Macys yesterday, its not that hard.
Ohhh Yeah and some Catholic crusade group is after her ass, they did not appreciate her foolery at all. They will move around a Priest who has fukked 87 kids all day long to another church but you dress up like they behind and its all bad.
On a side note you guys remember when Puffy dressed as the pope.

I don't think this is true. Like already Nicki has become a bigger name in the world than any other female rapper. Missy Elliott is the only other female rapper to break such international ground but I don't know where she's gone recently :S But Nicki really does have a lot of talent and the reason why 'every other girl from chicago or detroit' is not in Nicki's place is because Nicki had the determination and talent to push it forward and she was lucky enough that Lil Wayne chose her. She wouldn't be such a big name if she wasn't bringing something completely new to the table, because wearing funny outfits is not gonna sell you records. It will get you the press attention, but not album sales. I'm not a fan of Lady gaga at all, but i respect how hard she works on her music; without that, her crazy outfits would not mean much.
It's ok to not like Nicki, but to say that 'any girl could do that' is like saying that 'any girl with a blonde weave could be Beyonce', it's just simply not true.

Her image may be quite similiar to Lil' Kim, but, like I actually said in my post, her style of rapping and even her lyrical content is quite original. She started off imitating female rappers of the past by rapping about sex all the time and the like, but she quickly found her own way of expressing herself and created a style which is definitely unique to her and which hasn't been heard before. First it was Foxy getting mad at Kim and then Kim got mad at Nicki, and it's silly, everyone takes inspiration from everyone, but Lil Kim's and Nicki's music could not be more different. |
I have been screaming this forever now! I totally agree!!! :-))))))) |

I agree.I feel like her career is about to end really soon. The "stupid hoe," video & the grammy's performance was a failure.& Have you heard the song "Turn me on?" She is not even rapping. She's sound like a pop white girl singing. That girl is so lost.A large quantity of people on this other forum I post on said they were not going to buy her second album. But I expected this to happen...you can only get so far when you "rap," about...well nothing. |
& It seems like Nicki is going down hill on her 3rd-4th year.Female rappers before her have lasted longer than that.

Okay if Nicki was sooooo talented why does she need such a gimick to get attention. When Nicki was just a plain ole flat butt female no one cared who she was, but after Wayne pumped her up with silicon implants and started dressing her like a clown people started to pay attention. Men like the sexual appeal of Nicki and women love the crazy costumes and look of Nicki. But like the other BHM member posted her latest single stupid ho is REALLY so stupid. I am already over Nicki and to be honest female rappers don't have any staying power in the game. In a year or two everyone will be saying Nicki who??

I started liking Nicki way before she released her first album, cos I heard one of her tracks online and thought it was really cool, because I hadn't heard something like it before. If you look at all her early stuff, it's very sort of 'by the book female rapper', and it wasn't really saying much. Her image wasn't saying much either. She said that when she started she felt she had to be like other female rappers and rap about sex all the time and being a tough bitch and stuff, but that it wasn't her and then she realised that she could rap about other things that felt more natural and that's when things started picking up for her, because she wasn't rapping about promiscuity. It wasn't until her album came out that I saw her dressing in outrageous stuff and I liked her music wayyyyyyyy before then.
Like I said before, crazy outfits will get you attention, but it's the talent that sells your records, it really is. Because if her album was crappp, then people would soon hear about it and not buy it.
I do agree about her recent single 'Stupid Ho', I don't think it was the best choice of song, and yes her Grammy performance was actually terrible and embarassing, but I think that's just because she's gotten a bit carried away with her own hype and has started creating stuff too 'out there' because she thinks it will sell regardless. I think that's a danger a lot of people face when they have a lot of success. I thought the same about B's latest album, i think she made an album that was too self-indulgent and didn't really cater to her fans or public and she thought it would sell because 'she's Beyonce'. Obvs it sold loads, but a lot of people weren't too amazed by it and that showed when the Grammy nominations came out and it barely got any attention.
To be honest though, like it doesn't matter what we all think; like most artists, you either love them or hate them.

I DEFNITELY have to cosign on the comments about her grammy performance.......I was just like, "what in the sam HELL??" And when they started singing christmas carols, I just straight up started laughing.
But what I like about her is her style of rapping. She is a great MC- when I listen to her it makes me feel like rapping is getting back to what it used to be about, which is the pure skill of the MC. Even better, I am a deaf person, and I can actualy even understand what she is saying most of the time........this is rare, and it means the music is complementing her, not overpowering her.
A lot of artists start out with some level of craziness to get attention. They also rarely have a lot of control over the first album. The true test of her staying power will be her ability to evolve as an artist. Her second album should be her chance to speak on some things SHE wants to speak on, and less craziness. We shall see........I know Im rooting for her.

Yeah I agree, only time will tell if she has staying power. I do agree, I think she has a real talent for rapping that is unlike what I've heard before, there's genuine artistry in not just her lyrics, but her delivery, which I think is very original. Let's just see what happens

I was telling my husband about this thread and about the comment about NM hairline starting at the eyebrows. And he said"| What about Drake.. his hairline starts in the middle of his forehead". So I guess there are exceptions. I'm just kidding though.. a hairline looks way more believeable when it starts high up.
