This is a year long challenge. JAN 2012 to DEC 2012  this challenge is closed

I'm issuing 6 passes for direct heat.  I will also be issuing styling challenges each quarter and product giveaways. 

Those of you who know me, know I try to stay away from heat (don't always succeed as much as possible)  This is year 3 for some of us who have done my previous challenges....so we should know what we are doing.


Keep it Cool Rules :
- 6 direct heat passes for the year
-keep it positive in this thread or you will be ousted

LIST OF EXCEPTIONS to the Keep it Cool Rules
hooded dryers, Caruso steam rollers, blow drying on COOL setting, touching up new growth roots, flat ironing leaveout (for weave wearers) and heat caps. These DO NOT count as direct heat

- if you use a heat pass, you must post a pic so those of us who are heat junkies can live through you Wink

- post and update - as my girl Loveakisoy says "no one wants to be in a challenge where no one posts"

- post a starting picture, regimen and goals by Christmas so we can drool and steal from each otherLOL

- give at least one product review during a quarter 
(quarter end dates = March 30; June 30; Sept 30 and Dec 30)

- be positive and encouraging Tongue
naturals, relaxed, texlaxed, texturized, whatevas...ALL are welcome!

Deadline to post pics and regimens - Dec. 25

here is my regimen for december 2011

i am in a weave so i shampoo once a week or so, deep condition once a week and apply leave in once a week  I keep it simple.

shampoo - Hairveda Amla Cream Rinse or Vo5 Clarifying conditioner

conditioner - Hairveda MoisturePro

leave in - rosewater glycerin spritz i made with silk aminos and wheat protein added

that's it.  i may start doing hot oil treatments on my braids to seal in additional moisture between washes.

I don't have much of a regimen per se, however here is what I follow loosely:

I co-wash about three times a week with V05 moisture milks or Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner.
I don't really wash my hair, but if I feel it needs a good clarification, I use Shea Moisture's Moisture Rentention Shampoo about once a month.

I keep my hair stretched and detangled about 80% of the time in either a high bun, or about 6-8 braids.

If I do style my hair, I do somewhat of a wash and go with Shea Moisture curl milk, and seal with the curl smoothie which also dubs as something for hold. I also use Jojoba oil.

I only use gel about once every two months, so when I do, it is Ecostyler Gel.

I have a Huetiful Steamer, but to be honest I haven't been that good at DC'ing. However for this challenge, (and for the sake of my hair), I'll be way more diligent with that. I'll steam about once a week.

I always air dry, so not using heat will not be a problem. Just to mention, all product that I use, and will use are sulfate free as well as cone free. Its only within the past few months I've tried the 'CG method' and it seems to be working very well for me.

P.S I am fully natural.

I think this is a great challenge. I've only used heat once this year, and I am seeing drastic results. I think everyone will be surely pleased with their results. Especially for my fellow 'fine haired' ladies. Best of luck!
