telling me to straighten MY mofo hair.
last I checked, it is MY MOFO HAIR. I think I looked good with straight and curly hair, but some ppl are just jerks. I get a lot of compliments and all, but this particular person is ridiculous.
but on the other hand, my hair is starting to drive me nuts. i just wish i could wear a wig and leave it alone, but i hate fake hair and im getting tired of two stranding every other week >__>
sorry for the rant.

Like the poster above me said, they may just be jealous of your crown - I'm guessing it's black folk telling you to straighten your hair? Rock that 'fro with pride girl!

My mother is like that......I swear everytime I talk to her she says "what you going to do with that hair? Soon you will have to make a decision about that hair. Look, you will put a relaxer in it. I bet you!"

^ My loving mother is the same way lol. In the beginning when I was thinking about transitioning, my former hair stylist said "please don't" lol. And people kept telling me that I am going to get tired of having natural hair and will eventually relax. Even people of other races outside AA told me that. I just don't get it sometimes. I think that is why I delayed my transitioning for so long because people kept telling me that my hair is too thick to be natural. Now that I am natural I get more compliments than when I was relaxed. But it is definitely a learning experience and takes time to get use to.
Wigs aren't so bad either. When I go out to a party I wear a short curly wig that people mistake for my hair. It is so cute.
It is my hair and I can do what I want to do with it regardless of what they have to say about it.

Gurl please, the woman I work with lost like to have lost thier damn mind when I cut my hair, It was like I did something to them personally. I rock my TWA, some days I comb it out, some days I'll define the natural curl and it's NAPPY as a slave str8 of ship, some days a wear my wig. I do me and the Hell with the rest of them.
My natural hair makes them uncomfortable, I understand that, but its not for me to change me, its for them to change how they feel about the REAL THEM....Rock your Fro.....

i know how you feel, i have gotten into verbal fights with folks in the past over my damn hair...i am not trying to hear that sh*t, i don't have to do anything with my hair other than what I want to do with it...i don't live for them, nor do i care to listen to the negativity...i'm sorry you have to go thru that mess, and the positive thing for me to say is 'you will be better off in the long run', but i feel u, that sh*t gets on my nerves...i am quick to put someone in their place when it comes to my hair, as if i asked them to comment on it, i don't ever remember asking them for an opinion, yet they want to volunteer....SMH, i got a little mad for you girl! lol

I think that it's their own insecurity...the fact that you are stepping outside of the box makes them question themselves, thus they'd be more comfy if you would comply!!! Bottom line, they are jealous of your apparent lack of insecurity...
ROCK IT GIRL!

That'll do it, people don't like being put on the spot right fast.
