I would guess its mostly because its done in a fashion to distinguish themselves from the negative stereotypes that are linked to being AA. As it was once said here "I'm black but I'm not  that kind of black". Each side seems to face their own discrimination. I dont think anyone should be shamed for embracing who they are, but a lot of what creates that rip with some AA is that they are constantly told by blacks of other nationalities that they have no culture,  they lack work ethic, they are not seen as one from the motherland, etc.
