So I have just decided to go natural and right now im having just one issue...My scalp itches soooo much. thinking back on it my scalp has always itched under my cap (quickweave). My hair is braided right now and every 5 minutes I'm scratching my head. I'm scratching my head with one hand and typing with the other right now. I have this anti-itch stuff from organics root that i haven't really tried yet but i want to know of anything home made i could try. Plz plz help. thanks in advance...

I have an itchy scalp too, but since I have changed some of my products, it doesn't itch as much. I use a sulfate-free shampoo and not the sulfate free ones that still tend to dry my hair out. I'm talking about Elasta QP conditioning shampoo and Shea Moisture (yellow). Try to stick to a few products. Moisturizer and an oil or butter. One thing I've learned is that when I sweat, I have to wash it or it'l keep itching. Like yesterday, I sweated so much that I had to do wash with Elasta QP. Some people co-wash, but I don't do that. I use to, but it seems to coat my hair.

You can also try a medicated shampoo which is recommended for itchy scalp that just won't stop no matter what, which can be found in your local CVS, Walgreens, etc Pharmacy.
After that add oil to your scalp such as grease or oil for itchy scalp.

You might be reacting to a shampoo, conditioner or whatever comes into contact with your scalp. What helped me was not using shampoos that contains sulfates which dry out my scalp in turn makes my scalp itch. Another thing is I avoid using products that contains tea tree oil. There is a laundry list of products that I avoid but it was a long process.

You could try to apply tea tree oil regularly and always follow your washes with an ACV rince. If you have dandruff or a scaly part on your scalp you could apply some betamethasone cream on it. I always have some available for my allergies but it works great on my scalp problems too. I don't have problems with itching any more when I'm out of my braids.
And I remember way back when I was natural I would wash my hair everyday in the shower with a palmolive anti-dandruff shampoo. That shampoo did wonders for my scalp.

ACV - Apple Cider Vinegar. Basically, you use like a tablespoon or 2 and mix it in with a cup of water. It's good for removing product buildup and smoothing down your cuticles. I used to do this as a final rinse (before learning that I have low porosity hair and don't need to close up my cuticles)

The chemicals in your water supply can also contribute to the iritation and itching. If you've tried everything else, consider getting a water filter and washing your hair via a faucet or shower head that has the filter.
Also, I usually co-wash every 5-6 days and find that washing my hair using a water filter plus my home made sealer and scalp treatment (coconut oil, tea tree oil, oil of lavender, shea butter, and EVOO) tames the itching. Especially after exercising...
