I had a relaxer done professionally on December 9,2011. I been going to the salon to wash my hair ever since then. Because I've always felt no matter what I do I can't get my hair to look at soft and manage to stretch my roots while blow drying like the salon does.
I sometimes wait a gap of 2-3 weeks to wash my hair since I can't always go to the salon.

It was all going well... But, I felt my hair so dirty and decided to wash my hair at home. It's not exactly the washing, it's the drying that I fail at. I bought a good blow dryer and flat iron but my hair STILL doesn't look the same.

I want to learn that method and technique. Because it looks so simple at the salon. I am now thinking the difference is probably the roller set and I'm about to by a dryer and retry this again. I've seen many girls on youtube achieve that soft look.

Instead, when I do my own hair at home it looks like I haven't had a relaxer in so long.

I want to save money,do my own hair care for it myself at least when I'm washing it.. but I fail. should I try flat ironing the roots? Any advice, product recommendation etc please?

This is how my hair looks after a wash, rollerset and blowdry at the salon:

I had some new growth but now it just went wild after I washed and dry it myself..

(I washed with Hellohydration for the first time then air dry a little then applied olive oil moisturizer and blow dried. This is how it looks like when I wash and blowdry it myself. It is worse in person -_____-  :

It looks a bit wild. I know mine can look that way too when I let it air dry. I think a good hooded dryer will be good for this and for conditioning treatments. It's indirect heat and that is good for the hair. Perhaps it's also the products you are using. What do they use at the salon you go to? Take a peek the next time. I think it's products and technique. I think watching youtube and reading the boards is a good way to get the technique down. Maybe one of these products is not doing what you need for your hair.

I think that in salons especially the ones I've been to they use so much heat that I always end up having bone straight hair but I def think it's the technique .. I'm not sure which products they use but I've bought some good products and my problem is drying the air. Air dry or not I always end up with this hard to manage poof. But, I'm looking into buying a hooded hair dryer hopefully the rollerset makes a huge difference since that's what they do to me a the salon as well :s

Have you tried looking at tutorials on YouTube? I think that has helped me a lot. Watching videos has helped me a lot with blow drying and my wraps.

It just takes time to learn the right technique and sometimes it's a matter of switching up the products that you use.
