kfoxx is jealous, I'm so addicted to Sushi. Tokyo I hate that too. I have to dig through all that bullsh*t they make for American palettes to find what I like. If infuriates me to no end when I get random veggies and imitation meat in my stuff. And don't let the chefs be Japanese, I give them the hairy eyeball for that sh*t, like your momma needs to slap you for coming over here messing up her recipes . One of my vendors always knows where to find the good stuff so after meetings out of town he always takes us to the best spots. Vietnamese Barbeque has been my favorite so far but I can't go to that place without him because the don't really speak English there and I wouldn't know how to order.

You should. I've never tried red beans in ice cream, but one of my favorite desserts is oshiruko, which is a sweet red bean soup with mochi (rice "cake"). I thought it was weird at first, but it's so yummy! Anko (red bean paste) is also yummy.

I HATE American style sushi and I refuse to eat it when I am in the US. I don't understand why the rice is on the OUTSIDE and the nori is on the INSIDE. I also don't understand why there is strange stuff in there like egg and imitation crab meat. I think folks confuse Japanese sushi with Korean kimbap. I'm super lucky because my best friend's parents AND her brother own sushi restaurants, so I never have to pay for it. :D
My favorites are:
- saba (mackerel) - maguro (tuna) - unagi (eel) - toro (tuna belly) - sake (salmon)
I only eat it with soy sauce and maybe some wasabi.
I also like onigiri (rice balls). I usually pick up sake (salmon) and shichikin (sea chicken-tuna with mayonnaise).
